Summer has definetly begun!

So I have to say that my kids have been really, really, enjoyable this summer. Last year I think they were out of school for about three days and I thought I was going to strangle them or myself. But this year they haven't been too bad- until this week. I know that we have been going non stop since school got out and I am sure that has helped but I think I am going to lose my mind by the time the week's over. It's weeks like this that I am so glad that I have a job outside of home to get away from it all! Here are my most spoken phrases this week:

"Stop Whining" I don't know what it is that makes kids whine but when I put in my order for things I don't want my kids to do I am pretty sure whining was number one.

" If your so bored clean your room" Bored- who has time to be bored.

"Leave that poor baby alone" When she's screaming she obviously doesn't want to have ANYTHING to do with you. Duh.

"Hungry? Again?" I am pretty sure they don't feed you four times in the six hours you are at school.

"No you cannot ride the bus" Thanks to Tiff and Tara for instilling in my kids' mind that if they want to go somewhere there is a bus and its free! :)

"Go play" Isn't that what summer is for?

With that all said I have about 6 hours left before I start my "week" of work and get to turn the house and kids over to my lovely husband who has abandoned me for the day to go to his parents cabin to work. Please pray for me!!!! :)

If we could all be 10 again!

Today Ashton was having a hard morning. First he got grounded for not taking care of his dog, then he got sent to his room for fighting, I almost made him go out to mow grandma Friedli's lawn, he had to clean his room and the kitchen and to top it all off, I made the kids eat left overs for lunch. As his day was going SO downhill he informed me of a couple of things. When HE is a grownup and a parent, HE is going to have a TV with internet and on demand in the kitchen so his kids can watch it while they eat. HE is also going to never ground his kids. HIS kids will have no chores and they will still get allowance. As well as HE will never serve them leftovers as a meal! What it would be to think so simple as a ten year old again! Hope all of HIS dreams come true!!!!

Camping! UGH

On Wednesday Marty came up with the brilliant idea to go camping. He was excited, the kids were overjoyed, and I- I was just along for the ride! So we got everything packed and headed up to Porcupine campground by Minnetonka cave on Thursday morning. I was in good spirits- despite my natural ability to dislike camping. We got to Bear Lake (a town I love) and had a great lunch at La Beau's. I love eating outside smelling the Lake. (When I was 13, my best friend Ruby and I spent the summer babysitting for a lady at Alcova Lake and I think that brings back good memories). After lunch we headed up the canyon to find the perfect camp spot. After driving through all the campgrounds we decided on a spot in Porcupine. So we got out and unloaded the truck and then it hit me- Why am I here! I hate to camp! I immediately remembered my top five reasons I dislike to camp so much!

1. Bugs. I'm not scared of them but they annoy me to no end. They are always buzzing around your face and NEVER go away. Bug spray works but not the way I wanted it to.

2. Setting up a tent. No matter how easy they claim it is, the poles get stuck, you put them in the wrong spots, and someone ends up swearing before you finally have a fabulous ONE room hut where you spend the night on a hard floor-FREEZING.

3. Dirt. It's just everywhere and there is no getting rid of it.

4. No cell service. Kelly and I have an unspoken rule that we chat at least twice a day. With no service how is that possible!

5. No showers, hot water, or modern bathrooms. Need I say more.

So the night wasn't great. Kenzie woke up screaming because she was so cold and didn't know where she was. We finally had to warm up her bottle and I sat with her in the suburban for a while before she calmed down. In the morning, Marty made a gourmet breakfast of hash browns, sausage and bacon. After that we packed up camp and headed up the canyon to tour the cave. Kaylee, Kenzie and I only made it halfway through due to Kaylee getting scared? and having to go to the bathroom. What I saw of the cave was pretty cool. When we got out of the cave we were met by Andy, Tiffany and the girls. We had invited them to go, but Tiffany didn't know if they would be able to make it. Once again- no cell service so they got left behind. Sorry guys! After Marty and Ashton made it out we headed down the canyon to go home. We ate lunch in Bear Lake again and then off home we were.

So camping is not my idea of fun but all things aside it was worth my discomfort to see how much my husband and kids loved this trip. It was good to be together as a family. We played games and took a walk and really enjoyed time without T.V. and gameboys and yes, the computer. If asked if I would do this again? Yes, in a heartbeat!

Family Home Evening

When we first moved up here we were having family home evening every Monday with Marty's side of the family. This was getting to be too much for us all when McKayla, Ashton and Kaylee started school so we have moved it to be joined only the first Monday of the month. This month was Marty's moms turn and since grandma Friedli bought hot dogs for the cabin trip that she thought we were all going to go on- that is what we had for dinner. It was one of the more peaceful home evenings due to the fact that Marty, Andy and Rob were all working. Not that we don't love our guys but they can be sarcastic and not know when to stop. the lesson went good and Grandma Linda had all the kids write stuff about their testimonies down. I had to snap a picture when I looked up and saw my father in law asleep!! The picture is of Alli giving grandpa a wet willy. He just fell back to sleep though. Thanks for the great lesson Grandma Linda!

Fun in Provo

As most of you know Kaylee and I traveled with my best friend Kelly, her daughter Kylee, and her niece Kambree down to Provo to see Kylee dance at the stadium of fire. It was really one of the funnest trips I have ever taken. We arrived on Wednesday to see that our hotel room wasn't much bigger than Kelly or my bedrooms. Fun we thought. Especially since we took an extra girl, maria, down with us that night. We did survive though.
. We unpacked and the girls took of for the pool. Kylee and Maria had dance practice so we dropped them off and headed to enjoy a wonderful dinner at Red Lobster. We stopped at Walmart and bought the girls matching Hannah pj's- although Kambree and Kaylee wore theirs for like two days or something! They were all so cute. The next day we took Maria and Kylee to dance and then came back and swam for about 3 hours. I got a little burnt but I definitely needed it. The rest of the day is a blur because I was so worried about my baby at home that I only slept from about 4 to 6 that morning! She was fine by the way. I know we ate and watched t.v. and Ky had two more practices but I couldn't tell you many details. I do remember that her dress rehearsal was at 8 and we were able to go so we got to see the blue man group without their makeup and they did do some interesting moves on stage. Kelly and I had a blast feeling like we were at a rock concert and we were 15 again. It must have stuck with us because when we were done and driving to our hotel, people were camped out for the parade and it was crazy on main street. Usually Kelly has a tad bit of road rage when we are in traffic, but tonight we cranked up the Miley Cyrus, and let the girls yell and wave and have a blast. It was one of the highlights of our trip. When we got to the hotel, even though it was 11 or so, Kelly was all set to walk the booths. The morning of the fourth, Ky had yet ANOTHER practice so Kelly dropped her off and then there was a parade that ran right on our street. Kaylee and Kambree had fun watching it from the balcony and we were glad we weren't in the hot sun. Kelly looked out and saw that big Buddha from fox 13 was sitting in his truck, so we had the girls run down and get a pic with him. They thought that was pretty cool. After we picked up Ky we went and walked around the mall. The girls saw mountain fun (arcade) and we headed in. Kelly and I even tried our luck at dance revolution. We weren't that great though but we had fun doing it. We then headed to our other hotel where we were excited to see that it was normal sized and we weren't going to be so cramped. We got ready and headed to the stadium. It was crazy with people. We saw the girls dance and Sgt. Jill Stevens (Miss Utah) sang for us. Then we saw the blue man group perform again and then Miss Miley performed. It was a fun night. By the time we got to our hotel it was about 1 in the morning. I am so glad we decided to stay the night because I wouldn't have gotten home until Sat anyway. Saturday, we woke up at 9 which is normal for me but quite late for my early riser friend. I think that threw her off for the day! Of course the girls wanted to swim so off they went to the pool. I don't think they wanted our little vacation to end. We finally ended up on the road about 12:30 and as much fun as I was having I was missin' my baby so bad. I finally got home around 5 and was so excited to see her. Amazing that I lived without her for so long and now she is everything to me!! She was so excited to see me but was really attached to her dad. He walked out of the room and she started screaming- and I was holding her! I was glad to see that Marty had cleaned a bit, changed her clothes, and even gave her a bath! He always did this with the other two kids but now that I am home I don't think he gets the hands on that he did. It was a fabulous vacation and I am so glad I had the chance to spend the fourth with my daughter and my best friend. My advise- everyone needs a little girls retreat once in awhile!!!

Happy 4th of July

I want to let everyone know how thankful I am for the freedoms that my family and I have. I appreciate so much all the soldiers that gave up their lives to serve our country and make it so that we continue to enjoy the freedoms her in the USA. Our good friend Karwin is away in Iraq as well as a couple of our other friends' husbands and I hope they know they are all in our prayers. We pray for their safty, their families, and their wellbeing while away. I cannot express enough thanks to them and their families for the hardships they endure to make sure we are safe. Kaylee and I will be going to the stadium of fire this year to see her friend Kylee dance and we will be thinking of all the great people we have protecting us. We Love You All.

A week in review

My week last week was a little crazy as summer goes. On Monday Ashton got sick and by Tuesday he was really sick so off to Instacare we went. Strep throat I told them and ear infection the doctor told me so that was the end of that visit. By Wednesday he was REALLY sick and so I called his pediatrician and took him in there. Guess what he told me- Yep strep throat. I was so irritated but after a shot in the butt for Ashton, away we went. He wanted a Jamba juice so we stopped and got him and I one. Kenzie loves Jamba juice so she drank most of mine. Whenever I took it away she got so mad.

I was glad when Ashton was better so we could still go to Ogden for our water party on Thursday. I took the slide and my friend Ruth has a bigger pool so we set all this up and let the kids play all day. It was so fun. It made me miss Ogden but I was glad to be able to spend the day with my friends.

After the pool party we ate dinner at my friend Brandy's. Our friend Ruth cooked us beef and broccoli with egg rolls and rice. It was delicious even if it was 9 by the time we ate. After that we headed down to Kelly's where we watched a movie and stayed the night. Kelly had bought Kaylee a pair of Hannah Montana pj's to match Kylee's so that is what the girls slept in. The next morning I was off to my other friend Jenny's. I've Known Jenny since Kaylee and Chenoa were 1 so it was fun to hang out with her and my other friend Rachael. She also has a big pool and the kids loved playing in that and jumping on the trampoline. They have this cool swing in their backyard that Marc (jenny's hub) made and Ashton loved it. When jenny pushed him on it we thought he got stung by a bee because he started screaming like a girl. It was so funny.

We finally got home around 5 to make it to dinner with Marty before I had to work. It was such a fun week. I wish every week was that action packed.

3 JOYS

1.My Husband and kids. My kids mean everything to me and I am so grateful to have them-unplanned and all! My husband is also always there for me. He brings me back to reality when I am off on a tangent and he has been very patient with me over the last ten years.

2. My extended family. I love living next to my in-laws-I know weird! But they are so good to me and the kids. I also love being close to my mom, brother, and all of my sister in laws. I love the relationship I have with my dad and sister even though they are far away and I feel overwhelmed with support whenever I need it.

3.My Friends. They also mean the world to me. I feel like I have the bestest friend ever right now and a great circle of friends. At any given time I can call one of about 10 people and share my moods with them. I love you guys.

3 FEARS

1. I am terrified of losing my mind. I see a lot of mental illness in my line of work and I am so scared of becoming someone like that one day.

2. I am scared of being alone. I hope one day I don't look up and see that everyone I love is gone.

3. Failing. I don't want to disappoint anyone but especially myself. I hope I succeed in my lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.

3 GOALS

1. To finish school- like soon!

2. Raise loving, productive children that I am close to all of my life.

3. To have a long, happy marriage.

3 SURPRISING FACTS ABOUT ME

1. I have never had the chicken pox. Don't ask me how because when I was little my mom would find out someone had the chicken pox and have me play with them all day but it never worked.

2. I ruin surprises. Marty has tried to surprise me so many times and I get wind that something is in the works and I bug him to the point he finally tells me what is going on. The only time he surprised me was for my 30th birthday and he had a surprise party but I had just had a baby and was so out of it I still didn't know what was going on when I saw all of my friends outside!

3. I am the pickiest sleeper. I have certain things that have to be in order before I can sleep. No lights on, my feet uncovered, a certain pillow, my ears covered up, and I have to lay a certain way. Hope I never become paralyzed!
